OT(oligotrophic agar)
Oligotrophic agar is an extremely nutritionally-poor medium useful for isolating slow-growing actinomyces e.g. from soil.
Preparation
Per litre:
- 0.05g Yeast Extract
- 0.5g tryptone
- 0.1g sodium glycerophosphate
- 12g agar
Instructions
- Mix well all the components in 1000 mL of distilled water.
- Sterilize by autoclaving at 15 lbs pressure (121°C) for 15 minutes.
- Mix well and pour into sterile Petri dishes.
