Soft Nutrient Agar (SNA)

Soft Nutrient Agar (SNA) is a modified version of DNA containing half the amount of agar. It is commonly used for overlays containing motile organisms, and for plaquing bacteriophage.


Preparation

Per Litre:

  • 4g Difco Nutrient Broth Powder
  • 5g Agar
  • 1L dH2O

Instructions

  1. Add 0.8g of DNB powder into each 250ml conical flask
  2. Add 1g of Agar
  3. Add 200ml dH2O
  4. Autoclave
